Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s much-anticipated horror-comedy, Stree 2, has achieved a remarkable milestone at the domestic box office, surpassing ₹600 crore (₹6 billion). This makes it the first Hindi film to reach this feat in a single language, solidifying its place in Bollywood history.
Directed by Abhishek Banerjee, the film features an ensemble cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Mukherjee. Released on August 15, the movie’s steady rise at the box office has exceeded industry expectations.
Stree 2 Shatters Records
With a total domestic collection of ₹604.22 crores, Stree 2 has outpaced Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in its Hindi-language box office earnings, though it still trails behind in overall collection across all languages. Jawan, directed by Atlee, holds a cumulative collection of ₹643.87 crores in multiple languages.
The movie saw a boost in ticket sales during National Cinema Day, where prices were slashed to ₹99, driving larger crowds to the theaters. However, competition is on the horizon with the upcoming release of Jr NTR’s Devara, which could lead to a slight dip in the coming weeks.
Celebration and Praise for Stree 2
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film on social media, stating, “IT’S 600 PAAR… #Stree2 creates HISTORY as the first Hindi film to achieve this milestone.” The film’s strong performance in urban multiplexes and smaller centers alike has contributed to its runaway success.
On Sunday, September 22, Shraddha Kapoor shared her excitement, posting celebratory photos with her close friends, calling them her “Magic Girls.” The actress expressed her gratitude for the success of the film, which follows up on the 2018 blockbuster Stree.
As Stree 2 continues its triumphant run, fans are eagerly waiting to see whether it will surpass the overall collection of Jawan and set even more records in the process.
