A “person of interest” has been detained, and local law enforcement recovered an AK-47 rifle from bushes close to where Trump was preparing to leave, the New York Times reported. The suspect’s identity and motive remain unclear. Although there is no immediate evidence that Trump was targeted, CNN, citing sources within security agencies, reported that the shots may have been intended for the former president.

I have directed my team to ensure that the Secret Service has all necessary resources to protect former President Trump.”
Vice President Kamala Harris also took to social media, expressing relief that Trump was safe: “I am glad he is safe.”
